Carrot Tops Rabbit Rescue

This baby female hedgehog was found locally being used as a football by some youths. Luckily, a lady driving past saw what was happening and stopped to rescue the hedgehog. She must have arrived when this cruelty had just begun because the hedgehog does not seem to have suffered any lasting injuries. She is too small to hibernate and so will be kept in the rescue until the spring when she will be released.

(Update - Jan 2011 - the hedgehog is still doing very well, and is putting on weight ready for release back into the wild.)

As you can see from the photos below, she is doing very well and enjoys cat food.
